Disposable gloves
Disposable gloves or disposable gloves are used to protect the wearer, the object to be touched or, as in medicine, to protect each other. Disposable gloves are most commonly used in the food industry, in laboratories and in the healthcare sector. They are part of everyday work, as they are ideally suited and offer the best protection against contamination in excellent quality - with us you can order from a wide selection at a great price.
Field of application
Disposable gloves are indispensable in hospitals, medical practices or care facilities. They protect the user as well as the patient from contact with pathogens. In case of possible contact with body fluids and body excretions, the gloves protect the health personnel. In food processing, the gloves prevent germs from the skin from being transferred to the food, thus protecting the person eating the food. Regular contact with detergents attacks the skin and can lead to rashes and allergies. However, the protective effect of thin disposable gloves is limited.
Powdered disposable gloves
The advantage of powdered gloves is that they are easy to put on even when hands are wet. This is particularly advantageous in southern regions or in summer. The powdering also ensures that the hands remain dry during longer periods of wear. However, the powdering can also lead to disadvantages with latex gloves. The powder particles cause latex protein to enter the skin and can thus trigger allergic reactions.
Nitrile disposable gloves
Nitrile disposable gloves are optimal for allergy sufferers with latex allergy, because they are mainly made of petroleum. The material of the disposable glove is very comfortable for the skin. Through the glove you are still sensitive to touch and it remains tear resistant. Due to the solvent resistance, the nitrile glove does not allow chemicals to pass through. Unlike latex disposable gloves, they also do not let oils through. The nitrile gloves are therefore particularly suitable as examination gloves in the laboratory. Furthermore, they are used as protective gloves, when working with crafts, in the food industry as well as in the field of cosmetics.
Latex disposable gloves
The latex glove is produced by means of the sap of the rubber tree. Since only natural materials are used, it is also naturally degradable and therefore sustainable. Due to its elasticity, it fits perfectly on every hand. While latex gloves have good resistance to acids and alkalis, they are permeable to oils and many solvents. The use of latex gloves should be avoided for those with latex allergies. Furthermore, product contact in the food industry should also be avoided because latex allergy can be induced in the food consumer.
Vinyl disposable gloves
The disposable vinyl gloves are made of the basic material PVC. The gloves are a low cost option and are free of latex protein. The disposable gloves are resistant to acids and alkalis and are recommended when gloves are changed frequently. They are characterized by their soft and smooth texture and are therefore particularly popular in care.
Standards / Legal requirements
In order for disposable gloves to be used in healthcare, they must comply with the European standard (EN455). The gloves therefore have the following product characteristics:
- They are leak-proof (water permeability test)
- Standardized dimensions
- Controlled powdering
- Do not contain talc
- Exhibit a minimum tear force
Furthermore, latex gloves must be clearly marked on the box in Switzerland so that no allergy sufferers use them.
As a rule, disposable gloves have a shelf life of 5 years after production. In addition, however, sterile gloves must be checked to ensure that the packaging is still intact.
